Earrings for Nobuko and Miyoko
My second cousin Miyoko approached me with a pearl bracelet she was given as a child from our mutual great aunt, wanting to turn it into something she’d like to wear more. I set the pearls in a style of setting called ‘nejiume (twisted plum)’ which was apparently popular in Japan during the 1920s, around the time our great aunt would have been born.
She shared the pearls with her sister, to make matching pairs with coloured stones of their choices.
